The Castelijn & Beerens Rien RFID Card Holder (52 0851) is a card holder of 9.9 x 6.2 x 1.3 cm that weighs 90 grams. An aluminium case with a pop-up mechanism holds 7 cards, and a leather slot holds 1 more. The outside is hand-dyed bull leather. RFID protection is built in. The colour is cognac.
You press the button below the case. The 7 cards then slide out in a staggered row, so you grab the right card straight away. An automatic lock then holds them in place again.
The case is for 7 bank, credit or loyalty cards. The leather slot on the outside fits an eighth card or a few receipts. At 1.3 cm thick, you can easily carry it in a trouser pocket or inside pocket.
Yes. The aluminium case shields the RFID chip of your cards. That way nobody can secretly read your card data wirelessly.
The leather of the Rien series is bull leather that has been dyed by hand. Castelijn & Beerens developed it together with a partner tannery in Tuscany. The leather is vegetable-tanned according to the guidelines of the Leather Working Group. Because the leather is dyed by hand, the shade varies slightly from piece to piece. Cognac leather gets a little darker over the years. Wipe it with a dry cloth and give it leather care now and then.
Is there a Rien version with a note compartment? Yes, the Rien Mini Wallet has the same case in a leather cover with a note compartment and 2 card slots.
What is the aluminium for? It makes the card holder sturdy and provides the RFID shielding. It is anodised against wear and corrosion.
